18th Food Festival in Chitwan, Nepal.

The 18th annual food festival in Sauraha, Chitwan is set to commence on February 11th, coinciding with Valentine's Day, and will continue until February 15th. Organized by the Restaurant and Bar Association of Nepal (REBAN), Sauraha Chapter, the festival aims to blend food, music, and culture to entice both domestic and international tourists.

 

The president of REBAN Sauraha expressed excitement for the event, anticipating a turnover of Rs 30 million with an expected daily attendance of 5000 tourists. The festival seeks to spotlight traditional, local delicacies alongside native art, culture, and attire, elevating Sauraha's status as a premier tourist destination.

 

Over five days, attendees can enjoy a diverse array of attractions including multi-caste tableau displays, performances by national and local artists including the Axis Band, food exhibitions, and competitions showcasing local tribes. Additionally, festivities will feature a Valentine's Day program, tug-of-war contests, the REBAN Cup municipal-level volleyball tournament, and an inter-school dance competition, among other activities.

 

In the previous fiscal year 2079-080, Chitwan National Park welcomed around 300,000 tourists, with 150,000 already visiting midway through the current fiscal year. This festival serves as yet another vibrant celebration of the region's rich offerings, further solidifying its allure for visitors from near and far.
