Your adventure begins at Paro, which is a quaint little town situated in a lovely valley. A visit can be made to the famous Tiger’s Nest Monastery (Paro Taktsang), a holy place sitting high on a cliff, offering amazing views of the valley below. This monastery stands as one of the most venerated places in all Bhutan, with an incredibly spiritual journey to undertake to reach it.

Next is a journey to Thimphu, the capital of Bhutan, which blends modernity with tradition. The major high points here are Buddha Dordenma, the giant Buddha statue that stands overlooking the Thimphu Valley, and Tashichho Dzong, a magnificent fortress and monastery housing the king's office and other religious institutions.

However, the Laya trek starts at Shana Zampa from Thimphu and takes you through splendid sights to reach Thangthangka. It is a journey full of beautiful views of snow-burdened peaks and the lush green Paro Valley that forms the backdrop to your trek. The trek itself takes you through extremely dense forests that show off Bhutan's natural beauty and undisturbed wildlife.

From Thimphu, the Laya Trek commences at Shana Zampa. It follows trails through stunning sceneries that take you from Thangthangka down to Paro. You will be rewarded with impressive views of peaks with snow tops and the Paro Valley clad with green grass at every step while trekking through the trail passing through dense forests teeming with a variety of flora and fauna of this kingdom.

It then goes via Janothang, a rather isolated region, alpine meadows and beautiful sceneries. It goes ahead to Lingshi village, generally with a breathtaking view of the sacred summit of Jomolhari Mountain in Bhutan. Great spots for viewing wild animals like blue sheep and Himalayan birds abound in this trek.

Then, the trek follows the route along Robluthang and Limithang at high altitudes with rugged landscapes. Here is where you might feel the isolation, but the scenery around Bhutan, in its isolated regions, makes it a lovely place. As you walk further, you see traditional yak herders and feel the lifestyle of Bhutan's highland people.
