From there, it's Pokhara, and this is where the trip really starts to feel like a honeymoon—boating out on Phewa Lake at golden hour. Waking up before dawn to watch the sun hit the Annapurna range from Sarangkot — genuinely one of the most romantic sunrise views in the Himalaya, and worth setting an alarm for. A short, easy trek into Ghandruk follows, a Gurung village where Annapurna, Machhapuchhre, and Dhaulagiri feel close enough to touch, and where the pace of life slows down in a way that's hard to describe until you're standing in it.
Then the trip shifts entirely — Chitwan National Park, and suddenly you're canoeing past crocodiles on the Rapti River and tracking rhinos and Bengal tigers from an elephant-back or jeep safari. Duration & Difficulty
Ten days, and genuinely easy — the only trekking involved is the walk into and out of Ghandruk, at 2–3 hours a day on well-established trails. You don't need to be in trekking shape for this; you need to be excited about the destination.
Best Time to Go
Spring (March–May) and autumn (September–November) are your best windows — clear skies, crisp mountain views, and comfortable temperatures for both the sunrise hike at Sarangkot and the Ghandruk trek.
