Annapurna Circuit Trek
Annapurna Circuit Trek Overview
The Annapurna Circuit Trek is a legendary Himalayan adventure, often cited as one of the world's best trekking routes. This 14-day journey circles the entire Annapurna massif, offering an extraordinary diversity of landscapes, cultures, and experiences, from lush subtropical forests and terraced fields to high-altitude deserts and the dramatic Thorong La Pass.
The journey begins in Kathmandu, followed by a scenic drive to the trailhead. The trek winds through the Marsyangdi Valley, passing through villages like Chame and Pisang, with ever-changing views of peaks like Annapurna II, III, and Lamjung Himal. A key acclimatization stop in the beautiful village of Manang allows trekkers to explore the local monastery and prepare for the high pass ahead.
The undisputed climax is the challenging ascent to Thorong La Pass (5,416m), one of the highest trekking passes in the world. The sense of achievement upon reaching the top, surrounded by a panorama of snow-capped giants, is unforgettable. The descent leads to the sacred temple complex of Muktinath, known for its 108 water spouts and eternal flame, a significant pilgrimage site for both Hindus and Buddhists.
The trek then continues through the arid, Tibetan-influenced landscapes of the Mustang region to Jomsom, before a scenic drive to the natural hot springs at Tatopani for a well-deserved soak. The circuit concludes with a drive back to the lakeside city of Pokhara and then to Kathmandu. This trek is perfect for experienced trekkers seeking a challenging and incredibly rewarding Himalayan journey.
