The trek starts with a scenic drive to Arughat and gradually ascends through picturesque villages such as Liding, Jagat, Lokpa, Chunling, and into the heart of the Tsum Valley, visiting Chhekampar, Nile, and Mu Gompa. This offers encounters with local communities and ancient monasteries nestled in dramatic mountain scenery.
Highlights include visits to the sacred Mu Gompa and Rachen Gompa, ancient Tibetan monasteries, as well as breathtaking mountain vistas of Manaslu, Himlung, Cheo, and Ganesh Himal. The Manaslu Tsum Valley trek typically ranges from 18 to 20 days, depending on the specific itinerary and trekking pace. Our detailed 20-day itinerary allows for proper acclimatization and a safe, enriching experience through both the Tsum Valley and the Manaslu region.
Altitude & Difficulty:
The highest point reached is the Larkya La Pass at approximately 5,160 meters (16,752 feet). This trek is considered challenging and requires a good level of fitness, stamina, and previous high-altitude trekking experience due to long days, remote terrain, and the potential for high passes.
Best Season:
The best time for this trek is during Spring (March to May) and Autumn (September to November) when the weather is stable, clear, and offers the best mountain views. These seasons provide ideal conditions for crossing high terrain.
Permits Required:
Yes, a special restricted area permit is required for the Manaslu and Tsum Valley region, along with the Manaslu Conservation Area Permit (MCAP) and the TIMS (Trekkers Information Management System) card. All necessary permits are included in our package and will be arranged for you.
Accommodation:
Accommodation is primarily in tea houses (lodges) or home stays along the route, offering basic amenities such as meals and bedding. In some sections, tents may be provided as per the trek type. The package includes 4 nights in a hotel in Kathmandu.
Altitude Sickness:
Altitude sickness is a significant concern, especially in the high Manaslu region. Our itinerary is designed with proper acclimatization. Our guides are trained to recognize symptoms and can provide assistance, including arranging emergency helicopter evacuation if required.
