The journey begins in Kathmandu with cultural sightseeing, followed by a scenic drive to Syabru Besi, the gateway to the Langtang region. The trail ascends through lush forests and river valleys, passing through Lama Hotel and Mundu, before reaching the serene Kyanjin Gompa area. An exciting day trip to Tserkuri (5,033m) offers breathtaking panoramic mountain views.
A major highlight is the ascent to the sacred Gosaikunda Lake (4,380m), one of the most revered pilgrimage sites in the Himalayas, surrounded by snow-capped peaks and alpine terrain. The journey then crosses the Gosaikunda La Pass, offering expansive views before descending into the culturally rich Helambu region. Here, you'll pass through villages like Melamchigaun and Sermathang, experiencing a unique blend of Buddhist and Hindu traditions, stone houses, and terraced fields.
The trek gradually descends to Melamchi Bazaar before a scenic drive back to Kathmandu, offering a rewarding Himalayan adventure that combines sacred landscapes, diverse ecosystems, and deep cultural encounters.
Things That You Need to Know
Duration & Difficulty:
The Gosaikunda Helambu Trek is a 17-day journey. It is considered a moderate trek. No prior trekking experience is mandatory, but a reasonable level of fitness and preparation is highly recommended.
Altitude:
The highest point reached is Tserkuri at 5,033 meters (16,512 feet), with Gosaikunda Lake at 4,380m and the pass at a similar altitude. Proper acclimatization, built into the itinerary, is important.
Best Season:
The prime trekking seasons are Autumn (September to November) and Spring (March to May), characterized by clear skies and mild weather.
Accommodation & Meals:
Accommodation during the trek is in cozy mountain guest houses or lodges, offering basic amenities. In Kathmandu, we provide stays in star hotels. The package includes three meals a day during the trek.
Permits Required:
You will need the necessary trekking permits for the Langtang region and TIMS card. These are included in our package and will be arranged for you.
