Kanchenjunga Base Camp Trek
Kanchenjunga Base Camp Trek Overview
The Kanchenjunga Base Camp Trek takes you to the foot of the world’s third‑highest mountain, Mt. Kanchenjunga (8,586m). This adventurous trek is designed for fit trekkers willing to challenge high altitudes and remote, rugged terrain. Unlike crowded routes, the Kanchenjunga region offers untouched landscapes, diverse wildlife, and deep cultural immersion with Rai, Limbu, Tamang, and Sherpa communities.
The journey begins with a flight to Bhadrapur, followed by a scenic drive through tea gardens of Ilam to Taplejung. The trail passes through lush subtropical forests, terraced rice fields, and charming villages. You will trek both the North and South Base Camps, crossing high passes and walking alongside the Kanchenjunga Glacier. Highlights include the north base camp at Pangpema (5,143m) and the south base camp near Ramche, with magnificent views of Kanchenjunga, Kambachen, Janu, and other 7,000m peaks.
This trek is physically demanding and requires good preparation. Global Nepal Treks provides experienced guides, porters, all necessary permits (Restricted Area Permit, Kanchenjunga Conservation Area Permit, TIMS), and camping/teahouse accommodation. Be prepared for basic facilities and a true wilderness experience.
