Langtang Gosaikunda Trek
Langtang Gosaikunda Trek Overview
The Langtang Gosaikunda Trek is one of Nepal's most scenic and culturally rich Himalayan journeys. Located north of Kathmandu, this trek offers an ideal blend of mountain landscapes, alpine wilderness, traditional village life, and sacred high-altitude lakes, all within a relatively accessible timeframe.
The adventure begins with a scenic drive to Syabrubesi, the gateway to Langtang National Park. The trail winds through dense forests of rhododendron, bamboo, and pine, following the Langtang River to charming Tamang villages like Langtang Village. The trek continues to Kyanjin Gompa, a stunning settlement dominated by views of Langtang Lirung (7,227m), where a hike to Tserko-Ri (4,984m) offers spectacular panoramic views.
Leaving the valley, the route ascends to the sacred Gosaikunda Lake (4,380m), a revered pilgrimage site for Hindus and Buddhists, known for its crystal-clear turquoise waters and dramatic mountain backdrop. The thrilling crossing of Gosaikunda Pass (4,610m) provides sweeping views before the descent through the remote forests and traditional hill villages of the Helambu region, concluding at Sundarijal near Kathmandu.
This trek is ideal for trekkers seeking a less crowded Himalayan route that combines high-mountain adventure, sacred lakes, diverse landscapes, and authentic local culture.
