The Everest Short Trek is an exhilarating 8-day journey through the heart of the Khumbu region, offering a perfect introduction to the world's highest mountains. This compact trek blends breathtaking Himalayan landscapes, rich Sherpa culture, and the thrill of high-altitude adventure into an unforgettable experience.
The adventure begins with a scenic flight from Kathmandu to the thrilling airstrip at Lukla, the gateway to the Everest region. From there, the trail follows the Dudh Koshi River through picturesque villages like Phakding to the vibrant Sherpa town of Namche Bazaar. A crucial acclimatization day in Namche allows for scenic hikes to viewpoints like the Everest View Hotel, offering stunning panoramas of Everest, Lhotse, and Ama Dablam.
The trek continues through beautiful rhododendron forests to Tengboche, home to the famous Tengboche Monastery. This spiritual site, with its magnificent backdrop of Himalayan peaks, is a true highlight. The journey then retraces its steps back to Lukla for the return flight to Kathmandu. This trek perfectly captures the essence of the Everest region, making it an ideal choice for those with limited time.
Things That You Need to Know
Duration & Difficulty:
The Everest Short Trek is an 8-day package. It is considered a moderate trek, suitable for trekkers with good fitness. While it is shorter than the full EBC trek, it still involves significant altitude and some challenging days.
Altitude:
The maximum altitude reached on this trek is at Tengboche (3,867 meters / 12,687 feet). Acclimatization in Namche Bazaar is a key part of the itinerary.
Best Season:
The best times are Spring (March to May) and Autumn (September to November). These seasons offer the clearest skies, most stable weather, and the best mountain views.
Accommodation & Meals:
Accommodation during the trek is in comfortable tea houses or lodges. The package includes three meals a day during the trek, plus hotel stays in Kathmandu with breakfast.
Permits Required:
You will need the Sagarmatha National Park entry permit and a TIMS (Trekkers Information Management System) card. These are included in our package and will be arranged for you.
Note: Flights to Lukla:
The domestic flight between Kathmandu and Lukla is not included in the package price and must be arranged separately.
